Husic Chardonnay 2012
From the winery: “In 2013, the Sonoma Coast experienced a near-perfect vintage – extremely long and temperate, and the Chardonnay has turned out to be a stunner. Our source of Old Wente Clone Chardonnay from early 19080’s plantings at the Dutton Ranch is planted in Goldridge soils and is dry-farmed, producing low yields and loads of complexity. Aromas of lemon, verbena, mint, brine, and exotic spice fill the glass. The palate is rich and dense, but the acids in the vineyard are always high, despite the 100% malolactic fermentation, giving the wine focus and length. Flavors of lemon curd, graham flour, wet stone, and white flowers leave a lasting impression. This is a California Chardonnay that will age well, yet provide tons of pleasure now. The wine was fermented in 50% new French Oak barrels with bi-weekly lees-stirring to enrich the wine. Bottled unfiltered after 11 months in barrel.
